Jenna is a board-certified dermatologist practicing in Colorado, with years of experience treating and caring for skin, particularly skin cancers. She moved to Colorado for her dermatology residency, where she picked up snowboarding, rock climbing, and hiking.
Over five years, she spent hundreds of hours at high altitudes, summiting all 58 of Colorado's peaks above 14,000 feet. During those long days on alpine trails, she began considering how to make sun-protective apparel more fun and appealing—recognizing its superior effectiveness compared to sunscreen alone.
In 2023, when Jenna started taking her newborn son hiking in the mountains, she realized there were no comprehensive sun-protective clothing options for infants. This realization ultimately inspired her to start Alpenshade.
